tripadvisorWow, what a large group of important theaters! One of the largest in the world. So it is a center of entertainment for this very large city. Lots of good architecture here, but the traffic can be congested.
MoreWe strolled around the Theater District after a good lunch at the Downtown Aquarium. The Theater District features Jones Hall, the Wortham Center, Alley Theater and the Bayou Music Center. In the center of the Theater District is the Jones Party on the Plaza. My wife has seen Salsa musicians like Tito Rojas here. Our Lady Peace has played here before. We have seen some great shows and musicals like Very Merry Pops, Peter Pan and the Christmas Carol in the nearby theaters. My favorite spot is the Bayou Music Center. I have seen a wide range of bands from the Smashing Pumpkins to Creed and Staind here. The Theater District is a great area in Houston
MoreThere are a number of theatres in this area but they all seem to look very bland and uninteresting with little footfall at the time we were there
MoreDowntown has construction here and there, roads closed here and there and even though the city tried to revitalize downtown, it just gets ok when they have festivals of course you have to pay entrance fee, not worth it.
MoreWe've enjoyed going downtown whether it be Broadway Series, The Alley, Theater Under the Stars or The Houston Symphony. Parking was a breeze underneath the plaza and they have a good crew getting cars in and out. A little difficult and slow at times when all venues are open but this night moved very well. Always a pleasure to enjoy the arts in Houston.
