tripadvisorGinny and Charlie hosted our family for a very special private microbrewery tour. They collected us from home and took us to 3 local Cincinnati microbreweries - Mount Carmel, Madtree and Rivertown which were each very different, interesting and fun. They also took pictures and shared them with us on facebook which provided us a lovely reminder of our fun time together. They were great hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed the day.
MoreAn amazing time, with amazing people! From the beginning to the end, everything was well played out and wonderfully managed. Ginny and Charles are excellent tour guides with a great passion for the distilled spirits they are showing you. The venues we went to were excellent representations of their various fields, from a small liquor distillery and a craft beer maker, to a larger facility. They pushed to group to ask questions, and gave clear and concise answers every time, or they allowed the guides of the facility to answer the more technical questions. I never felt rushed, which I absolutely hate when I take a tour of something I enjoy. They showed us what the craft alcohol industry future is like and it is amazing. They even took us to a couple food venues to show off some of the cooking ability that is also growing in Lexington. It was an amazing experience, and if you have the chance I highly suggest to take this Tour.
MoreI had the most wonderful time on my first Tonic Tour! Your hosts for the day are fabulous people. The places we visited were terrific and the people we met were engaging. The whole event was well thought out and executed. I can't wait to go again!
MoreI don't like bourbon or beer but I took my guy for a romantic weekend in Lexington and he signed us up. The tour started at a nice restaurant with a great lunch and we discussed philosophy of imbibing and Ginny laid out tasting wheels for beer and bourbon. We then headed to micro-distillery that had moonshine, rum, and bourbon. It was in a tiny warehouse we would have never seen otherwise. Then a beer brewery and finally the company that makes Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale and then rounding things off with a dinner and cocktails. As the tour progressed I understood the craft better. We got to go behind the scenes with people that obviously love their jobs. The food was great and Ginny was extremely knowledgeable (and hilarious). So much fun! I would highly recommend it for anyone- bourbon lover or not!
MoreI took part in a recent tour and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It took me off the beaten path to some unexpected locations in the heart of Lexington that I'm not sure I would have found on my own. We met some wonderful people along the way and the transportation between locations was very comfortable. It was a wonderfully eclectic mix of alcohol and beer tasting combined with fine food and a couple informal, comfortable presentations by our host Ginny Tonic. I was pleased with both her knowledge of the topic, the places we visited and the personal approach she brings to the discussion of alcohol tasting and culture. Well done!
