tripadvisorThis is the center of Orange and is the Old Towne Orange with many shops and eateries. Big fountain and is on the Historical Registry. Walk around the area and look at all the old buildings and Antique shops.
MoreIn the middle of vast and sterile boulevards in California, this square and the streets leading to it were a refreshment for us - the area is full of nice restaurants, bars and shops and actually gives you a nice place to take a walk around.
MoreGathering point in Orange. It has had its ups and downs economically. Yet it remains one of the few places in Orange to meet up with friends. Shops are okay. Nothing special.
MoreI live about a mile from the Circle (oh yeah it's called the Plaza... a townie joke), and grew up in Orange. That Thing You Do (a 90s Tom Hanks film) was shot here and it really looks like something out of the 50s. This was a regular shopping area in the 60s, complete with a JC Penny and various merchants that supplied shoes, lock servicing, camera supplies, a couple drug stores, etc. All of those shops are long gone, except for Watson's Drugstore, recently converted to a fountain and cafe, and the Army-Navy Store, which has been in business since the mid-50s. The other shops were replaced with antique malls, and now some of those have been replaced with restaurants and specialty shops. I still love to visit the park at the center of the traffic circle and have been so happy to see that others feel the same. In fact I go out of my way to travel through it regularly when I out for a run. It's a nice place to take out of town visitors to just browse the shops and have something delicious to eat.
MoreWe live not far from here and walk into town at least once a month. We love just walking around the plaza and checking out the antique stores. There are also some great restaurants in the plaza.
