This is without a doubt the most beautiful monument to Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, the hero of the War of 1812 naval victory of the Battle of Lake Erie. The statue is very well done and depicts him in a very accurate and honorable way. One of the best things I like about this monument is the figure of Perry is fairly close to the ground so you can really see the details. For anyone who is a history buff, especially of the War of 1812, this is a very good visit. It will only take about 20 minutes and it is worth it. Would be a nice place for a picnic lunch.

This famous motto was emblazoned on Commodore Perry's battle flag. Perry, who was honored as an American hero, was honored here in Buffalo in 1915, @ 100 years after the Battle of Lake Erie. The statue was dedicated in 1916 and overlooks Lake Erie at a site in Buffalo's Front Park. This bronze statue is worth seeing if you are into monuments and/or history. I've read that there will be an upcoming feature film about Perry with filming to start in 2015-2916.
