tripadvisorLocated on Savannah river this nice small park has relaxing atmosphere. There are benches to sit and path to stroll. Two interesting monuments are located here. A waving girl statue portrays a local lady who for decades greeted the arriving ships. The other one is the 1996 Olympic Monument.
MoreMorrell Park was established in the mid 1960's as part of the River Street revitalization. It is on the eastern end of the Riverwalk and is Savannah's only park located on the Savannah River. It hosts the Waving Girl statue, the 1996 Olympic Cauldron and the Anchor for Merchant Seaman. It is known for its soft grass and there is a tiny stream spouting from a wall as well as benches to sit and take in the scenery.
MoreThis park is worth seeing, it is at the end of the Riverwalk. It is also close to the Factor's walk, which is very cool.
MoreLocated at the east end of River Street, this park is only 236 feet long. However, it houses two significant Savannah landmarks: the Waving Girl Statue and the 1996 Olympic Cauldron.
MoreThis pretty Park is quite small, but the only one that is right on the river. The Trolley passes right by, and on our tour, one of the drivers told us that we should check out the grass in the park, since it the softest one in Savannah. Since we are not really grass sitters, and did not sit or feel the grass here or anywhere else in the Squares, we had no way of comparing the types of grass, so we just believed him. Having said that, we did spend a little time chilling on one of the benches in the shade while waiting for our Cruise down the river. It was very relaxing being there feeling the cool breeze from the water, checking out the fabulous views across the river, and breathing in the fragrance of the gorgeous pink Lilacs that were in full bloom in the trees above us. There are a lot of photo ops here – the main one being the Waving Girl Statue. The Cauldron for the Olympic Yachting Events plus the Anchor for the Merchant Seamen are also right there. Most people come here to take pictures of these Statues, Sculptures and the River.
