tripadvisorThe Bank Park is very well maintained. The Ledbetter home is quite impressive. The old salt vats are impressive exhibits. The beautiful fountain is a nice tribute to Georgia. A person could stand 30 minutes admiring the longhorn sculpture made out of old implements and other old relics. A nice place to relax.
MoreWe stopped here on our trip to Fandangle in June. We enjoyed the log cabin and other historical monuments of Texas heritage. There's a longhorn made of various parts and pieces that's fun to look at.
MoreA simple collection of historic log buildings. A smaller version of Fort Worth's pioneer village. It's good to show children our Texas heritage.
MoreThis park is nice to walk thru and there are some good information about local people the changed the tide of the war.
MoreOn a recent trip to Albany we visited Bank Park. It is on Main Street and easy to find. There are several items of interest in the park that should be seen. First to greet you is a longhorn steer made of metal and it really interesting and OK..cute. There is also a monument that pays back a debt to Georgia for supporting Texas during its struggle for independence. Many of the Georgians were killed with the Texans in the battle of Goliad. One was spared, who was a doctor and the country was named for him - Dr John Shackelford. The debit was left unpaid until Albany citizens built the monument. Also in the part is the Ledbetter Picket House which is a classic example of frontier picket construction. It is called a dog trot house and is a standing example of frontier homes on the West Texas prairie.
