This area is the gem of the city and also the heart of the city. It is a series of official buildings that make up the Nevada state capitol. Very attractive and quite impressive and worth a short visit.

Road trip! Our 46th state capitol! This complex consists of the original Capitol and the new legislative building. They weren’t any tours available but the self guided tour was good. All of the staff and security guards were friendly and helpful.

Grounds are really lovely with lots of monuments and trees. We were not able to get into the capitol, we circled the entire Capitol and all doors is locked.

We had 20 minutes to kill and took a stroll through the grounds of the capitol. We thoroughly enjoyed the wide variety of plants and trees, many labeled. It was something our 88 year old mom could safely enjoy. The statues were interesting and the grounds well kept. This is a very inviting capitol.

The Capitol Building in Carson City is home to the Nevada State Legislature. Visiting is very informal and you can just wander around or join a free guided tour. There was no intrusive security screening unlike in most government buildings of the USA I am sure. There are some interesting displays on various aspects of Nevada State history. The helpful gentleman at the front desk even stamped our Route 50 Passport with a Nevada state stamp. Certainly worth a look around.
