our tour guide took us to this area that had some shade while she spoke about the area and we learned that prisoners came through here awaiting their sentencing at a point in history.

This park in modern times is an amphitheatre shaped lawn near the Old Capitol. The park gets its name from the fact that it marked the path that prisoners walked to the courthouse to receive their sentences. It is landscaped well and fits well into the scenery of the riverfront area. The name is a perfect choice.

Outstanding Blues Festival!! What a line-up! And six stages! And all free! Wide assortment of affordable, good Cajun, Creole, and Seafood were available for purchase, along with local beers, etc. The park is well laid out and abuts smaller parks that also had stages. The city could've had a few more facilities but I guess that's just the nature of the beast. Really enjoyed all the awesome music! Everyone we spoke to were so nice and laid back. There was a police presence and they were provided excellent crowd control and we felt very safe wandering around. Will be back next April!!

Repentance Park is perfect for spring and fall festivals in the area. Many popular community events are held here. Live After Five has made its home here with free concerts from 5 pm-7 pm every Friday throughout the spring and fall months. I have attended many concerts and festivals here including Live After Five, Blues Fest, Ebb and Flow Fest and more. A lot of people attend the events at Repentance Park so there is usually food trucks and merchandise tables set up. There are paved walkways so it's convenient to get around the park. There is also a fountain which the kids love to use as their own personal splash pad. The views are great being as the park is next to the Louisiana Old State Capital and the Mississippi Riverfront.
