Paul Bunyan is an iconic figure in American folklore, the tales of whose exploits of superhuman labor originated as oral tales of the loggers of North America and were further popularized during the 19th Century by William B. Laughead. Today, statues of this giant lumberjack can be found across the USA but, perhaps, one of the most famous out of all of them is the Paul Bunyan Statue in Portland. The statue towers over the corner of Denver and Interstate Avenues at a height of 9.4 meters (31 feet). Built in the year 1959 to commemorate 100 years of Oregon attaining statehood, the statue is now considered a national heritage.

tripadvisorIt's a statue in a commercial building. There is no parking lot, and it is next to a main busy street.
MoreOn our city visit, we were out driving around and spotted this curious and very large statue of the famous mythological figure. So we stopped and took a photo. Pleasant.
MoreWe are always looking for sights off the beaten path so this was right up our alley. Huge statue right outside the Wells Fargo Bank. Parking is difficult to find but since we were only going to be a minute, we parked at the bank and were quick grabbing a picture. Fun to see if you are in the area.
MoreWe love going on scavenger hunts in cities & tracking down oddities like this. So glad it’s there. Bigger & better than ever. No parking nearby, so good luck finding a spot. Worth it though once you get your hilarious picture of the kids at his feet.
MorePaul Bunyan statues and such always a fun visit. America at its best. Not an easy place to quickly stop and park and get a photo.
