My son is obsessed with all things civil war and loved this pivotal spot in the battle, nice display and memorials on the way up. Warning though, the hill is no joke, my fitbit said it was equivalent to 10 flights of stairs.

Very interesting site. Easy to access the path was just redone. Disappointed that the Minnesota flag was in such rough shape I hope it gets replaced soon. The information at the beginning of the walk up is very descriptive. Easy parking for several vehicles in a beautiful private neigborhood.

It isn't hard to find if you know what you are looking for. Parking (which is minimal) is in a residential area, just off the road at the bottom of the hill. There is a sign with a Cliff's Notes version of information with a trail leading to the top of the hill. Not much there aside from some replica cannon on the pathway up and some flags and a fence at the top. It would be nice if this site could have some oversite and restoration but still worth the visit. Be prepared to travel up a hill on a winding, uneven path.

How do you even find this place. There are no specific directions, no physical address, it just gives a road name. There is nothing tI set it apart from the community that has apparently swallowed up this supposed historical site. As a huge fan of the Civil War Nashville should be ashamed of themselves for allowing the history to be overtaken by people like it has.

I was excited when I read about Shy's Hill but was disppointed when I went to visit. It had been raining alot in Nashville but I feel the condition of the trail was still in bad shape even without the rain. Exposed tree roots, muddy and just not properly maintained. Some crushed granite and better drainage would help the trail a lot. Made it to the top to find only flags and a wooden fence. No cannon as pictured on the website I visited. Also no clear indication of where the trenches were dug for defense of the hill. I think with a little effort, this site could be worth stopping for. As is, no. However, if you are a TRUE historian, saying you been there is worth it.
