tripadvisorThe entire film is about 35 minutes long. It's in a nice theater. The staff are friendly. The first 10 minutes explain the scientific reason there are northern lights. The rest is music and pictures of northern lights taken by a photographer of the northern lights in different scenes in Alaska for past 20 years. It's beautiful and if you can't see them for real- this is a nice consolation prize.
MoreWe came across this show (movie) while walking around downtown Anchorage on our pre-cruise stay, and the timing was perfect for us to see the show. The ticket price ($12) was well worth it. The show of Aurora Borealis photographs is presented inside the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. The show is a culmination of one leading photographer's (Dave Parkhurst) effort of thirty years of capturing images of Aurora Borealis. In addition, we enjoyed meeting Dave Parkhurst himself who was at the show explaining the details of Aurora Borealis and answering questions. The Aurora Show is awesome along with the melodious music. The roll of credits for the show is something not to be missed at the end of the show. Highly recommended.
MoreIf you visit Anchorage in the summer, this is the only way you will see the amazing Aurora Borealis. This show inside the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts is a beautiful montage of Aurora photographs taken over a period of thirty years. You'll want to return to Alaska in the autumn or winter to see the Aurora in person.
MoreI learned a lot from watching this Aurora film. There was hardly anybody there, and that didn't make a difference. We watched 40 minutes of the most beautiful cinematography of the northern lights. At the end it even made me cry. I highly recommend this as a stop along the tour of Anchorage.
MoreThis was recommended by our tour guide the previous day. It's a relaxing way to spend 45 minutes when walking round Anchorage. The photography is stunning and the music adds to the appeal. Don't go if too tired as it could be quite soporific!
