Views were wonderful. The ride out is incredibly rough and wild but it is part of the experience. We stopped at the Rio Grande River and was on the El Camino Trail.

Beautiful spot with unique rock formations. Very interesting geology (basalt and sedimentary). Interesting flora and fauna. Highly recommendable.

Great experience! The washboard roads are a bit rough, but the view is fantastic! Well worth the adventure. And we can imagine what it was like being on this Old Camino Real hundreds of years ago.

We visited Sept 17. The road is rough, but well worth the drive. Drive slowly and enjoy your drive. The canyon is magnificent. The hike on down to the Rio Grande was fun with changing scenery. The only negative was too many cans and plastic bottles thrown off of Old Buckman Road and trash at a camping site near the river. We took lots of photos, flew our drone, and enjoyed the 4-1/2 hour trip to the river and back.

Continued down Buckman rd today past the recreation area parking lot, down to the Rio grande. Was able to park 100 ft from the river but this little bathing/wading spot on the Rio grande is disgusting with trash and beer cans and beer bottles, dirty diapers, what not else. You name it, and some slob has left it there. Too bad
