tripadvisorWhat a great way to understand the history of the area. We took a 2 hour tour on a Sunday morning. So peaceful. The guide and driver did a great job, and the permanent resident characters were interesting and fun. Must go!
MoreWe registered online for the 2 hour Sunday afternoon trolley tour. It was wonderful. The history and beauty of the space are very special. The docents are excellent, we even encountered some informative spirits out on the property. The trolley is comfortable, and it covers quite a bit of the property. You can also go there to walk through the paths and enjoy the plantings, and take your time reading many of the old headstones. The mausoleums are quite spectacular. It is like an arboretum when you realize how many different mature trees are on the property.
MoreThe Forest Lawn walking tour with Jerry reinforced my allegiance to Buffalo’s history and the contributions of those who now rest in the beautiful setting. Jerry’s storytelling, document sharing and appearance of period actors was highly engaging. Considerate of the hot day, the group was kept in the shade. Friendly. Informative. Inspiring to this Buffalonian.
MoreOur guide Jerry, was knowledgeable and provided a wealth of information on this walking tour. I was pleasantly surprised by the actors who popped in periodically to provide personal stories of some of the Forest Lawn residents. Since Forest Lawn will be my final resting place, it was good to get to know some of my future neighbors.
MoreStopped at former president Millard Fillmore's monument. Pretty easy to find using the map. Look for the tall American flag. Although, the cemetery is a total maze. Takes a while to get used to the layout.Loved the new Shirley Chisholm sculpture. A beautiful tribute to a great lady. Directly in front of the Birchwood Mausoleum.Besides these 2 items, I was underwhelmed. Have seen cemeteries with much more exciting graves and sculpture.
