THEY DID NOT HONOR OUR RESERVATION! We live in Philly but have family in LA and have stayed at the Mikado for the past 15 years. We’ve always had positive experiences there until this past Labor Day weekend. We were coming in for our niece’s wedding and decided to book a room at Mikado instead of the hotel where our family had a block of rooms. We only needed to stay overnight on Saturday but when we called to make the reservation and asked about early check in options (so that the room would be ready for us to shower and change into our wedding attire after our plane landed Saturday morning) we were told that the only way to guarantee the room to be ready was to book a two night stay (Friday and Saturday). So that’s what we did. They made a note in our reservation that we wouldn’t be checking in until Saturday, which we saw in our email confirmation (screenshot of our email confirmation is attached). Yet when we arrived Saturday we were told that our room had been given away the night before because we were “no shows” and that there were no other rooms available, not even for us to use to shower and change. There was just one (very young and clueless) person working at the front desk who had no explanation for why the note in our reservation was ignored or why we hadn’t even been notified that our reservation had been cancelled, and no understanding of how she could help us. She wouldn’t even let us speak to the manager, who she claimed to be texting. She just kind of stared at us blankly with this confused look on her face. It’s now been two weeks and no one has reached out to us despite our numerous calls, emails, and reviews. Needless to say they’ve lost our business.

Run, just run! Let's start with the fact that the room was not ready until an hour AFTER check in and how incredibly RUDE the big guy at the desk was. The refrigerator was not plugged in so our drinks never chilled while we were out, the tv was busted, the bathroom looked like a thing of nightmares. There was a lot of obvious water damage to the walls, especially in the restroom and the whole place gave us the ick. The person upstairs pounding on our ceiling was just the icing on the cake. We ended up leaving before midnight because there was NO WAY I was going to sleep or shower there. Stay far, far away

This place was great, nice and quiet area. Even tho we stayed for 1 night i highly recommend this place.

The hotel is cute. Charge for parking now but in LA very reasonable. many restaurants close & fry close also. The Hotel is very old & needs a refurbish but with that said the staff & cleaning people work hard to keep it up to standards. Needs new Carpet. Would recommend this hotel for a few days as a in expensive stop for la travels.

Worst hotel pool was about 40 degrees trash everywhere beds with cheap mattresses walls ripped not worth it DO NOT GO HERE hotel service did not respond food was bad. I would rate it a negative star review if I could
