tripadvisorGreat park to see the famous Painted Ladies. The kids had a blast running around and the adults had a hard time getting up all the steep hills. Overall it was a good experience with a good views.
MoreSo, I invite you to see—in person—the symbol of San Francisco, which became one thanks to the opening credits of the series „Full House”
MoreFolks love to come here to photograph the line of perfect Victorian houses, which are very colorful. This square is a city park on a hillside with good views of downtown. Good place for a picnic or to walk the dog. Used to be a sketchy area, but that was 50 years ago and now it is upscale.
MoreAlamo Square is a really nice park that sits in a commanding position on top of a hill. So the views to downtown San Francisco and the surrounding area are excellent.
MoreThe view of the Painted Ladies from Alamo Square is iconic and worth a visit, but I was quite surprised by the park’s condition. It felt more like an unofficial dog park than a public recreational space. There were many off-leash dogs roaming around without clear supervision — some jumping on visitors or even trying to eat people’s food. While I personally don’t mind dogs, I noticed that several people were visibly uncomfortable or scared. It’s hard to sit down and enjoy the view or have a peaceful moment when dogs are constantly approaching uninvited. If you’re not a fan of dogs or are afraid of them, I’d suggest being cautious or considering a different time to visit. The park really needs better enforcement of leash rules or at least designated dog-free zones so everyone can enjoy the space comfortably.
