tripadvisorI look forward to the NYS Fair every year for the past 45 years.Starting back when the Race Track, Tractor Pulls, Demolition Derby were removed AND the Progress Building turned into a Government Building. It Has All Gone Downhill. This Year Chevy Court seating was reduced instead of expanding the seating. I am 77 years old and stood 45 minutes before the concert and 90 minutes during the concert (Never Again). Every year the Selection of Bands or Group that play at the Chevy Court are worst and worst. Some I have NEVER heard of.You have the Toyota Coliseum that has barely used and never advertised, people could sit in there. We should be able to use E-Z Pass to park we used it for the NYS Thruway But Not The NYS Fair..... For the good news Very Clean, Lots of Security, Handy Maps are nice, but a daily printout would be nice too.
MoreThe NY State fair is always fun...very large, can be crowded. The free concerts are awesome. There are other things happening at the fairgrounds throughout the year, other festivals that are worth checking out.
MoreWe went as a family. We had such a horrible experience. People were drinking and smoking marijuana everywhere. A staff member became confrontational and she went after me with physical aggression and verbal abuse. Two nearby police intervened when I told them what was happening (she was still following me screaming and my kids were with me! my husband stood up for me when she lied - all of this happened in front of my small children! Another instance we were in line and a huge family attempted to budge us. I told them where the line was. He got mouthy and his kids were asking him to chill. Syracuse is not a good area. We will not be returning!
MoreWe drove 3 hours for our first time here to see Boyz II Men. This fair is very large. We also got to see Chubby Checker, which was fun. There are a lot of vendors and the prices are very reasonable. I LOVED the pineapple/raspberry frozen treat near the midway. It was very very hot, so we appreciated the free shuttle. We will definitely be back.
MoreHad a great time and good food (lot's to choose from). Had great pizza at Twin Trees located near the horse show. The horse show had Percheron horses. Lot's of animals at the fair. Cows, horses, goats, alpaca, llamas, giraffe, camels, and yes, they even had racing pigs! Two of our favorite shows were the water bark and the diving lady, who dove from about a 60' platform into a small pool.
