The Planes of Fame Air Museum started in 1957 as a project by Edward Maloney, who was an avid collector of WWII aircraft. Ever since his idea, the museum has been collecting historic flying machines, some of which are the only remaining ones of their kind. The museum also features the largest collection of Japanese aircraft in the world and since it's a living history museum, some of these can still fly, so make sure to catch the air shows to see history in action.

MoreWhen you have a wife who is a aviation nut,you go to a lot of museums. The staff here are so friendly and knowledgeable. They know their stuff on these historic aircraft. It was easy to wander around for 2 hours.Looking at histhree right before your eyes, be able to reach up.Touch it and let your mind go wild with the stories. That this aircraft has been through. Don't let anybody rush you just go and enjoy yourself. You'll be glad you did.
MoreFantastic collection of aircraft and aviation memorabilia.Fulfilled a life long ambition to see a P38 Lightning. The day I visited was a Planes Wings & Wheels event and the P38 flew alongside a P40 & P51 so a special day.Tom Cruise’s P51 from Top Gun Maverick was also on display. Well worth a visit for any aviation enthusiasts.
MoreAbsolutely loved this place we found Don and he was a volunteer that spent two hours with us talking about planes and everything in between highly highly recommend. I don’t know that it would’ve been quite as cool without a volunteer talking to us. We ended up spending nearly 3 hours here in total.
MoreAs an aviation fan and interested in topics about the second world war, I was so excited to visit and fortunately I could see all the airplanes with helpful descriptions and in good conditions. I could also meet Francisco, the best guide ever so friendly and kind, so I could have one of the best experiences in museums with real Me bf 109, Flying Fortress, Zero, Mustang and even a sherman tank. I recommend take more than 2 hours to visit and look for interesting souvenirs.
