tripadvisorfinally we just stopped by the Sloan lake. Sloan's Lake Park is Denver’s largest and most popular western neighborhood park, centered around a 177-acre natural lake fed by underground aquifers. The park features a scenic 2.6-mile paved loop trail that is heavily utilized by walkers, runners, and cyclists taking in expansive views of the downtown skyline framed by the Rocky Mountains. It also offers a vibrant urban green space for boating, paddleboarding, picnicking, and catching summer sunsets over the water.
MorePros: fantastic city Park for walking. The mileage doesn’t seem to be precise anywhere, but it’s between 2.6 and 2.8 miles around the loop. Perfect for a daily walk with your dog. If you like dogs, definitely go walk here. I was impressed how polite everyone was and all the dogs were leashed. Beautiful views of the mountain and the city. Mostly walking around residential homes and a couple of strips of businesses. Fun and active environment with people playing games and enjoying being outside.Cons: the bathroom buildings are shut down and they have a few porta potties and they are nasty. They get a lot of use so that’s not surprising. We also didn’t see water fountains available for thirsty dogs so bring your own water. Watch out for goose poop if you have a dog inclined to eat it because it is everywhere. Also, there are no poo bags available for doggy pick up. I’m not surprised with the volume of dogs at the park, but this is something I would love the city to subsidize!!!A suggestion for the city Park managers… It would be awesome to have updated waysides along the lake that explained the lakes history, native vegetation versus non-native vegetation, and maps pointing out features in the skyline like the mountains in the buildings of Denver.
MoreA nice park, but it get's sketchy towards the south side with the homeless population creeping in from the RTD station.
MoreGreat to .3 mile circumference walk around a beautiful lake with ducks and pleasant views of downtown Denver. Find a place to have a picnic as well
MoreOne of the nicest in the city parks. Sorry there will be NO dragon boat race this year. Lots of ducks, geese and other birds. Bike ride or walk with friends and family. If you have a small boat you can launch here. Do not know the specifics on that.
