An interesting story for a talented man. You go up a hill on a narrow rode among lovely houses. There are 2 parking spots available. It's very quiet. There are many momentos that are left in his memory.

I mean, it's a rock on a street. So pretty unspectacular for any reason except its meaning. It's the site where the great runner Steve Prefontaine died when his convertible overturned in the 1970s. If you're lucky, you'll get to see many cool things left by runners paying their tributes.It's only about a mile from Hayward Field so make it a point to see the rock. It's a windy road and my first question was, man, why was Pre even on this stupid road. I think he lived up there. There are a couple tight places to pull over and make the short walk back to the rock.

If your a runner it is almost required that on a visit to Eugene that you make a trip up to the spot where the famous runner crashed and passed away. you ill see others who have come and left items. The road is VERY narrow but there is a small spot to pul off but be careful driving in the area

We loved visiting this spot. It’s right on the edge of a neighborhood and parking is really limited but definitely a must for any Pre fan.

Fun spot to stop especially if you are a fan. The parking is limited and the streets are narrow but worth the drive.
