We boarded the 102 year old sloop, the Adventuress--a gorgeous 100+foot look tall masted ship, for a three hour sail. What I loved about the adventure was that we weren't passive 'riders' but active participants. Those who wanted to join in (and who wouldn't?) helped haul the mainsail and other sails as well. Even young children got to have a hand in helping sail. You can also wander below deck to see the living quarters, mess, even the heads! It's great to see this piece of history alive and well. All the crew were up for answering any questions about the Adventuress, sailing, and Sound Experience's educational mission. They do these public sails regularly as well as longer educational sails. For example two of the women passengers were going to join a Woman at the Helm sail -- four days women only. There's coffee and tea below deck too. Great for couples, friends, teens, and families with young children. One note about accessibility. This is a for real sloop. You will climb a ladder to board and you'll use ladders to go below deck. Have lunch at Anthony's or picnic at one of the tables by the docks. Highly recommended.
