This is a nice small city park. The memorial fountain is unique in it's shape. I loved the informative plaques that surround the fountain pool. I didn't know about the Georgia soldiers help during the Texas fight for independence.

The Bank Park was very shady which was a welcome relief in the hundred degree weather. The fountain is well kept & the plaques around the monument are easy to read. I loved the unique shape of the fountain.

The monument is a fountain in the center of the corner park. It is pretty and informative. I was not aware of Georgia's contribution to Texas Independence. Down the street you can also find one of the greatest courthouses in Texas.

This is an interesting monument to the Georgia Volunteers that we read while waiting to eat the BBQ meal before the Ft. Griffin Fandangle. It shares good a history lesson.

This is a monument in Albany off of Main Street - we missed it the first time we drove through (on the way to Fort Griffin). But we returned to have a picnic lunch at the Monument, and found (it isn't hard to find). When I say humbling, I mean that in the best since - this is a Monument to those who volunteered to leave home and family to fight for people they didn't know. This was during the 1836 war for Texas independence from Mexico. Most of those volunteers were killed in the Goliad massacre. Simple, peaceful, commemorative. We liked it.
