tripadvisorIt was a beautiful fall day for a walk in the park before the cold snap hits tomorrow. I simply walk around the lake to get my exercise while enjoying the fall colors, I have become a bit cautious in attempting the so called loop trails that seem to go on forever. A number of people enjoy fishing in the lake. There was also a photographer taking pictures of a family’s children while I was there. Occasionally you will actually see deer wondering about.
MoreAlthough it’s a small park with a lake for fishing there are also trails. Unfortunately the trails need more signage. For example I took the Twisting Bends Trail Loop. I surmised it looped and came back to the lake. For one there was never another sign guiding you. I never found the end of the trail. I did come across a golf course and made my way down the hill through brush to find someone who could direct me back to the entrance of the park. Another thing is the restrooms were out of order. Noteven a port-a- potty for folks to use. Come on. You can do better.
MoreIt was a beautiful park. We particularly enjoyed the walking trails. Unfortunately the trash around the lake was a bit of a downer. The washrooms were clean. A good place to take a beautiful walk in the forest.
MoreA small but scenic park with a couple of trailheads and a small lake for fishing. It’s sort of a hidden treasure in the south end of Louisville that had been overshadowed by the larger parks such as Iroquois Park and Cherokee Park. Still it’s a nice park to spend a little time in. Today was a bonus day as I spotted 2 deer by the side of the road. Or more accurately the deer spotted me on the road.
MoreAfter not being able to drive up to the lookout at Iroquois Park(police training session had it closed off) we drove to nearby Waverly Park to see the fall colors. Although not a big park the pleasant winding and hilly road offered some beautiful fall colors that led to a picturesque lake. We actually saw a number of folks fishing there. There is also a small dog park and a trail at the end of the loop where you have to turn around. The trail is peaceful and pleasant, however, the falling leaves covers up a number of good sized rocks and tree roots. Do be careful as I stumbled a few times over these admiring all the reds, oranges and browns of the leaves still left on the trees.
