This park is a few blocks from my home. When weather permits I enjoy walking the perimeter of it to get in my 10k steps. It's nicely landscaped, clean, and frequented mostly by small kids, seniors and adults seeking to chill out and take in a little bit of nature. When the weather permits you may notice a few families making an impromptu picnic.

Named for the Dutch city in Utrecht, Amersfort Park offers a myriad of temperate flora - from 60 foot tall Old Oak Trees to 6 inch flowering plants. Benches, well sculpted for sitting are offered on both the perimeter pathway and clustered in various configurations near several flower beds. Visitors are also given the opportunity to choose the degree of sun exposure - from full sunshine down to significant shade from the aforementioned large trees. Amersfort is one of the few NYC parks to lack both playgrounds and athletic fields. Nature and the local inhabitants at rest and at play are the chief attractions. Access is available at all 4 corners + at 2 mid block locations on East 38th and East 39th. For an initial impression, I recommend the SE Gate
