Situated on the northern end of Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Eakins Oval is one of city's most significant landmarks. Designed by Jacques Gréber, the traffic circle is named after famed pianist Thomas Eakins, and is the site for numerous cultural shows, parades and festivals. The oval is also home to the famous Washington Monument- a fountain most notable for its intricate sculptures.

tripadvisorEakins Oval is a busy traffic circle at the northwest end of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway just in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It features the George Washington monument. The oval was part of the 1917 design for the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and is named after Thomas Eakins, a Philadelphian and famous realist painter, and fine arts educator.
MoreA beautiful park immediately in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It’s a large circle in the middle of several major roads yet safe and easy to enterIt offers a nice view snd several good photo opportunities of Philly The President George Washington statue is the clear focus of the parkGo enjoy
MoreThe Oval is a fine tourist spot for photos. With fountains on either side this is is great spot to visit. The view from the Art museum overlooking downtown Philly is great. You can walk here from downtown or better yet take the Big Bus tours as its along its route and one of the stops.
MoreEakins Oval is a traffic circle in Philadelphia. It is at the northwest end of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway which is in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Inside the traffic circle is a large park with fountains, monuments, and a network of connected walkways for pedestrian. One monument we admired was the three-tiered statue of George Washington. It’s located at the top of the oval. From a local, we learned that the large park inside the oval hosts a large number of family-oriented vents --- everything form Food Truck Festivals, Movie Nights, Summer Sounds Series with DJs, Game Day Saturdays, and Sunday Family Fundays. At the time of our visit, we were headed to the Rodin Museum and searching for parking. We went up to the next traffic circle which happened to be Eakins Oval. It was even bigger than Logan Square which we’d stopped at earlier for about 30 minutes. In itself, it’s a very nice park. With an event going on there, it would be even nicer. We wished that we’d had more time to spend there, but we were already 45 minutes behind schedule for the day’s events on our itinerary related to the Wawa Welcome America Festival. We would attend an event here on another trip to Philadelphia in the future. We rate Eakins Oval at 4.50 and recommend a visit. If you found this review helpful, please click THANK below.
