tripadvisorQuite a nice moderate hike that makes your far away in the deep forest but your really next to Hwy 17
MoreNice trail winding through redwood drainage. Narrow in places but the trail is very inviting. Careful, lots of poison oak.
MoreThe Lodato Park trail is a beautiful hidden gem very close to the town center of Scotts Valley. It's a .3 mile hike up to the loop then a .6 mile loop that immediately brings you into a beautiful redwood forest. There's lots of poison oak bordering parts of the trail but I had no problem staying in the middle of the trail and avoiding it, although in a few spots the trail gets pretty narrow. It takes about half an hour to complete.
MoreHiked the loop trail along the lake then on up the hill and back to the lake. Good views from the top of the Lake. Saw a Pileated Woodpecker on the hill, Cormorants and a family of Mergansers on the lake. Plus on the entrance road saw a family of wild turkeys. There is a fee to enter but well maintained trail and lots of nice picnic area with extra clean restrooms. Be sure and get good directions to get there as it can be confusing. Worth the effort. hiked 5/22
MoreLodato Park is hidden behind a business park accessed through Green Hills Road or South Navarra. It is hidden in the back of a parking lot but there is good signage. It is an almost two mile loop with some elevation. A number of people walk dogs on the loop. Beautiful redwoods, ferns and wildlife. Easy trail to follow. Not accessible with a stroller. No bikes allowed either.
