tripadvisorIf you've paid any attention to my profile pic, it should be no surprise that I ended up here. In my research for things to do in the area, I discovered that REO Speedwagon plagiarized the name and logo of this old iconic car. This museum describes how a steam engine co became a car manufacturer and they have an original REO Speedwagon on display and they also have the first REO album here too. Cool to see, with no animosity. They have some prototype/concept cars here too. Great visit, learned lots and highly recommend if you're in the area.
MoreI am surprised that Lansing does not celebrate the RE Olds history. This goes back to the razing of his mansion to make room for 496. Yes, we have a museum but there is no documentary/PBS show regarding the industry and Lansing at the turn of the century. Petoskey celebrates Hemingway for his barely 20 summers vacationing in the area.
MoreSpent some time here on a recommendation. So glad we did. Not a very big place, but every inch of space is used. Spent a good 1.5 hours.
MoreAll that is left Ransom E. Olds, REO Motor Car Company and its REO clubhouse is a State of Michigan historical marker. The factory was taken down in 1979 now all that remains is this marker.
