This walking area allows for mild to medium strenuous hikes with solitude of the forest and views on the lakes. Wear hiking boots or sturdy sneakers for uneven terrain. You can download a map or photograph the map at the lake’s dam. Plan a route with numbered trails. Signposting is very good. Not much wild life during our walk.A refreshing combination from the salt water bay to fresh water mountain lakes, all within one mile.

There are many trail entrances to the area, but finding the parking lot for the first time was a bit of a challenge. The trails are well marked, however, and every time I go I find a different trail to explore. Some trails seem to be favorites for cyclists, but everyone I have ever met on the trails has been friendly and helpful.

Visited this lake looking for photo spots and was not disappointed. Great reflections, lots of beautiful trails and breathtaking views.

There are two Cranberry Lakes in Anacortes. If you are looking for one to go swimming, go across the Deception bridge to Whidbey Island, turn right into the Deception State Park and follow the signs to Cranberry Lake. This has a family friendly roped off swimming beach. Picnic tables and restrooms. You will need a state part pass.

Amazing beauty in a seemingly remote place. When we visited, the sky was blue and the temperature was in the 70s. It was perfect. It is so quiet and peaceful. It is possible to walk entirely around the lake, Though there are some places that might be difficult for very small children or elderly adults. I will definitely visit again, hopefully before summer is over.
