I scheduled a tour and the docent was outstanding. She provided details of a significant piece of history that impacted a self-sufficient town owned solely by African-Americans.

For anyone interested in post-civil war history, specifically the migration west of formerly enslaved Americans, their successes, their self sufficiency and why their success resulted in the events of 1921.

This is a very well designed and beautiful little park. The Tower of Reconciliation is fantastic, and the landscaping was beautiful. Unfortunately, the water features had all been drained for the winter, so we didn't get to enjoy them. The only distracting feature is the omnipresent sounds coming from I-244 only a few dozen yards away. I bet the waterfalls and fountains provide some pleasant sounds to counter this in the warm months. I guess this harsh highway noise forcing its way into this tranquil garden could be seen as a reminder of how the Greenwood neighborhood was defaced and transected by the highway and other badly enacted forms of urban renewal.

We stopped in Tulsa to visit family and wanted to learn more Black Wall Street after learning about after watching a documentary o. Netflix. Beautiful park with a lot of history to learn about, that doesn’t get talked about in schools.

Had read about this park in connection with recognition of the 1921 Tulsa race massacre. Wish we had more time that day and that it hadn't been quite so hot, but from the parts of the park we saw it was put together carefully and well tended.
