This is our first time camping at Eagle Lake-Merrill Campground. As we turned into the campground we were greeted by Patty, the camp host. She was very nice, reviewed the campground rules (biggest rule is ALL vehicles MUST be backed into sites/parking spaces. This is in case there is an emergency evacuation due to being in a heavy forest area. Campsites are large and most have full hookups. Many of the lakeside sites are first come first serve. When reserving, if site says no shade they do mean no shade as we observed several that had no shade. We camped in site 110, full hookups, with shade. Sites also include a picnic table and large fire pit ring. Firewood bundles can be purchased from the camp host. Restrooms are at the end of every loop so they are in close proximity to all sites. Restrooms were cleaned daily and have flush toilets. Campsites are also paved and most appeared to be pretty level. There are trails to the lake, lake being well known for brown trout. No beach while we were there as lake was high and completely full. DO bring pest repellent as mosquitos do come out at dawn and dusk. Camp ground overall was very quiet. We had a great time and will definitely be back again.

This is one of the best places to catch large trout. Been coming to Eagle Lake for years, I don’t remember when we started going to Eagle Lake but I do known it’s been over 20 years.

Quiet community in Spalding...lots of trees, cool nights. & a quiet environrment. Eagle Lake is a natural lake...not a reservoir so the lake level is affected by the aquafir & this year has affected the lake level...need a good snow year! Bring your own food...there is a small but very nice store with a good choice of items, including bait, clothing, drinks, ice, fuel. Kids love to ride their bikes around the dirt roads...they enjoy the freedom of this quiet community.

Brisk wind up Hwy 32, Chester & when arrived in Spalding.Kids didn't mind the wind, they ran & played outside & visited the inlet where they ran up & down the hillside & skipped over Pine Creek rocks. We loved the 2 story lakeside cabin...beautiful & peaceful.

We went to the Gallatin swim area June 3 2018 and the weather was nice and if you could manage to lug everything down the LONG way to the water find a spot not covered in dog poop and were then brave enough to wade through the swampy water and tall grass the water does clear up. The beach use to be a nice place but it needs serious maintenance. The kids still enjoyed themselves (3and5) but it wasn’t the typical “beach” experience we were hoping for.
