tripadvisorI was thrilled to come across this cute and quick artistic display. The stones, gems and other materials used are brilliant.
MoreA fun place to stop and take pictures. Lots of people leave little trinkets in the pockets of the rocks. It's in the middle of a neighborhood, next to an electrical sub station. Take the time to enjoy the beauty of the park, and the contributions of past visitors. It's very small, and not an actual park. Plan to spend at least 15-20 minutes.
MoreThe place is very peaceful and interesting. People leave small trinkets on the wall and it was really cool seeing what people had left. There is a lot of detail in the wall with multiple designs and pictures within it.
MoreIn keeping with the quirkiness that is so endearing about Austin, there is a grotto like creation on the grounds of a former power substation in a north side neighborhood. Stone, wood, glass, metals, and mosaics were used by Berthold Haas to create this tiny wonder. The city is renovating the substation building into a community space, We absolutely loved it.
MoreThe site of a former electric substation, the local neighborhood association has been transforming it into a 'pocket park'. It's small, quirky and beautiful. A perfect example of keeping Austin weird. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit, but I enjoy these out of the way sites. Plan ahead and bring a picnic lunch on a nice day. We took the bus and stopped on the way to another destination.
