tripadvisorThis is a great spot for hanging out and surfing. The views are great but you want to be ready for a challenging climb down to the beach and back. The surf is nice, with numerous breaks and a nice roll.
MoreOne of the few beaches in the area with free parking. Also some street parking. There are trails leading down to the beach, some fairly steep. No stairs that I know of.
MoreBeacon's beach is a very popular beach for surfing. You park at top and have to walk down a path to the beach below the cliff. It is not difficult but definitely not handicapped friendly.
MoreSpent the 4th of July on Beacon Beach. It is a beautiful beach, when the tide is high though the available sand for sitting is minimal. There is no natural shade so be sure to bring an umbrella or easy up. It is a bit of a trek to go down & come back up. It is a sort of zig zag path on sand and a few steps. The bluffs have warning signs that they are unstable and I believe the City is looking to stablize and change the path. There are no public restrooms. There are plenty of places to grab a snack or food, you just have to climb back up and out of the beach. It seems to be a place locals know, but they were not territorial in the least. Parking lot is a bit small but it's FREE! No dogs allowed that aren't Service Animals. Lifeguard was on duty.
MoreLove my little neighborhood beach. So glad I can walk there. If you come in summer and drive, keep in mind there is a tiny parking lot and no dogs allowed. The trail can be hard if you have a lot of stuff to carry down and there are no restrooms. I love to walk there in th winter when there are fewer people and if you walk a mile to the east or west you can have a pretty quiet spot of your own on the beach. Come on down and watch the sunset!
