tripadvisorVery cool quick stop while we were in town. We just drove up and got out of the car for a few minutes just to have a visit, Very cool to see.
MoreFolks, this is not a “reproduction “ as some reviewers claim. It was cast in 1903 by Rodin himself and is the oldest monumental sized version of The Thinker in existence. The one on display in Paris was cast in 1904. All bronze versions of The Thinker are casting, what distinguishes them are who did the cast. If you are a fan of art, this is a must see. A truly historic treasure sitting in a beautiful setting for the entire community to enjoy, no admission fee necessary.
MoreAbsolutely the one to see, as Baltimore use to say the one that got away . this is Rodin's first casting of the full size The Thinker, created Christmas Day 1903 and made its way to the St Louis World's Fair of 1904. It then went to Baltimore who later sold it and purchased a later casting, one made after the death of Rodin. The most talked about sculpture in the World and the first full size is here at the University of Louisville.
MoreNot worth making a special trip but if you are in the area, why not stop for the photo op. Easy to find.
Morewent to KY for a summit but I made a decision to find Rodin's Thinker. took me a lot of U-turns and figuring out where is the statue. but once I found it, it was worth the drive.
