tripadvisorPacked during the summer and pretty sketchy as the sun goes down. I wouldn’t bother unless you’re a veteran and trained to handle yourself. Lived in Detroit for fifty years and still a little scared to stay there too long.
MoreSmall green space used mostly by fishermen and couples looking for romance along the riverfront. Went to to see the lighthouse, which was unimpressive. Neighborhood is a little sketchy, amazing how you can go two blocks north and be in one of the nicest communities I have ever seen.
MoreThe park is located on Riverside Blvd. Just take Alter Road towards the Detroit River and make a right onto Riverside Blvd., and it's right there. I visited the park in December to see the Windmill Point Lighthouse which stands at the southern end of the park. The park isn't very large, but offers a beautiful view of the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair. There are several benches facing the water for you to enjoy the view. You can also sit in your car and enjoy the same view since the parking spots are so close and face the same direction. When I was there the park was full of seagulls, and it looked like they may have been in the process of removing the fence that separates the parking lot from the grass/bench area. If not, it should be removed. It was not in great shape, and was the only negative point of the park I saw.
MoreNot a real park per se. But a stretch of area where you can hook your pole inside the premade slots they have along the fence. Some benches to sit back or just sit right in your vehicle as the parking area is right there. Beautiful view!
