Some of the last colorful autumn leaves were still hanging on and the holiday tree decorations were going up. The weather's finally getting colder after a long hot summer and warmer-than-normal mid autumn.

After a very rainy April, the trees are finally beginning to bloom and blossom in Post Office Park. The flowers should be 'springing' up any day now.

Post Office Park in autumn is really pretty, with the change in foliage and fallen leaves everywhere. It's been an abnormally warm season right through to mid-November, so there were lots of people taking advantage of the weather and enjoying the park.

After seeing photos of Post Office Park with the two red mailboxes from Shinagawa-Ku, Portland’s sister city in Japan, I put the park on my itinerary for my next visit to Portland. The park looked better in the photos on the city’s web page for it. There were winter scenes at night with all the lights and snow. All of that was gone in October when I visited. There were some trees for shade in the summer and lots of benches. The park was a good place to sit and enjoy an iced coffee in the summer. Bard Coffee was nearby. For me, there were two highlights of the visit: the Japanese mailboxes and a squirrel on a bench that hammed it up for my camera.Without the Japanese mailboxes, nearby coffee shop, and the posing squirrel, my rating on Post Office Park would be a flat 3.0; but, with these things as well as how it looks with the holiday lights at night, my rating is 4.0.The reason for the delay in submitting this review was due to a months-long loss of my ability to post photos with my reviews. A lot of people seem to get this park mixed up with Tommy's Park, which is across the street. Anyway, this is a nicely-landscaped shaded park to take a break, especially if it's hot. When we went, there was a busker playing a trombone -- he had me when he played the theme from The Godfather. Between listening to the musicians and watching the people and pigeons, the entertainment is great!
