Also in the Anchorage Hilton and the Fifth Ave Mall, these stores are full of delightful mementos of Alaska. The tiny blue state flower (the Forget-me-not) appears on sweatshirts, mugs, T-shirts, coasters and even earrings. Faux moose droppings will appear as gag gift candy and jewelry. A selection of Ulu knives and state-mined jade jewelry is here, along with gold nugget jewelry, watches and money clips. Smaller items include refrigerator magnets and stuffed Alaskanesque wildlife.

tripadvisorMy husband and I try to shop all of their stores. This trip we made the Anchorage & Talkeetna stores. If you are looking for truly unique Alaskan items, this is the place. In addition to the normal fare, they offer rare and one of a kind items that are Alaskan made. We purchased a metal sculpture of a musher and dog team that sits on our mantel. Once in a Blue Moose is always a must shop stop and we always find custom items for our home.
MoreThis is for the Talkeetna store;Great shop for local tourism shopping, with a nice selection of items and friendly and helpful staff. We bought several items and enjoyed the experience. VictorB
MoreI visited this store today with my elderly mother to look for souvenirs for family out of town. Upon entering I was greeted by the clerk, I looked around, and I didn’t see anything I wanted. When walking out I passed the register and the clerk accusatively said, “You gonna pay for those socks?” Implying that I had shoved something in my pocket and was shoplifting, which I had certainly not. He continued to do so, causing a scene, until I offered to show him what I had in my pockets, jacket, etc. (No socks). He was extremely unprofessional and rude and no customer should have to go through such an experience. As a local I will never return to this store and discourage anyone from doing so. Management should seriously consider this man’s employment.
MoreRight across the street from the visitor center (log cabin). A great place to pop in to get the items you forgot (bid spray, etc...) before taking off on a tour. Also a big selection of those must have souvenirs.
MoreI visited several souvenir shops in the downtown area, and this was the ONLY one that actually had chocolates! Everyone had jams and taffy and caramels, but I'm a chocolate fiend, so finding any at all was a nice surprise. The rest of the items were similar to what was in other stores, but definitely stop in here for some chocolates.
