tripadvisorRevisiting Jackson’s Garden decades after my years as a student at Union brings back memories of my best times here. It is an oasis for all who visit, but especially for students escaping the stress of college studies. Thanks to the vision of Capt. Isaac Wilbur Jackson for establishing the Garden two centuries ago and to Union for maintaining and improving it over time, the oldest campus garden in the US is a gift to be appreciated by all who live, work or visit here. Look for references to Kappa Alpha, the secret literary society and oldest Greek letter fraternity in America, which Capt Jackson established with fellow students in 1825.
MoreI’ve been coming here since I was a child. Nice paths, cute creek, great grassy area to spread a picnic blanket or toss the frisbee around. My dog loves it here cause of all the squirrels and bunnies hopping around. The flowers and plants are nice too. It is a garden. I like the big tree at the base of the entrance stairs and the various memorial benches and signs. Not far from the Nott Memorial, the Chapel and the statue of President Chester, either.
MoreGreat place to have a family picnic or just walk through the park. Pet friendly. my kids loved exploring and my puppy loved the creek.
MoreGrew up here as a kid, often going into the garden to see the flowers or sit in the tree. place to have a picnic by a brook or even sleigh ride down the hill in he winter. A great place for a summers evening either alone or with that someone special!
MoreJackson Gardens, located on the Union College Campus in Schenectady is pure serenity. It was one of the best kept “secrets” in the area. If you are looking for beautifully maintained gardens and a place to meditate, look no further than Jackson Gardens.
