Casablanca Inn on the Bay Hotel

This secluded and intimate B&B in historic downtown St. Augustine is hidden behind an ivy-covered gate as if it came straight out of a fairy tale. The Inn is nestled among trees and tropical plants just a block from Matanzas Bay, where you can gaze at boats gliding in and out of the harbor. Stroll through the charming Spanish Quarter and numerous places to eat and shop off nearby St. George Street. Don't be shy about asking for special arrangements perhaps a sightseeing tour or a romantic carriage ride through town.

Zero pride in ownership, run down and dated.I was highly looking forward to my stay at the Casablanca Inn, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. While the property looks charming online, the reality of the experience was incredibly frustrating. The bed and mattress were terrible, terrible nights sleep. The shower head was ready to fall off. The air conditioning unit was extremely loud, cycling on and off all night, making it nearly impossible to get a good night's sleep. The location is convenient, but the lack of care, poor amenities, and indifferent staff completely ruined the value. I would recommend looking at other historic inns nearby instead of staying here.

The wife and I needed to get out of town. We love St. Augustine. As I was trying to make reservations, I somehow got sent to a third party that claimed I was at the right place. I went ahead and booked and I notice the price was different. They said the room I was looking at was now rented.I was finally able to contact the Casablanca and was greeted by Sheridan. She was so helpful and was able to book the original room and made sure that the third party would not be able to cancel it.We arrived and I met Sheridan in person. She got us situated and gave me directions to the free parking lot. I returned and told her, I so hope I am in the right parking lot Sheridan said she was not busy and she would walk with me to make sure. I was in the wrong lot and she got me parked in the right location.Everything was great, but Sheridan did an outstanding job during our stay.

Just wandering looking for breakfast. Try not eating at chains whether actual restaurants or hotels. We had popped into the Tiny Martini bar previously and this is the same physical location. Diverse menu with many options. Great coffee. Fast attentive service and a fair price to boot. What’s not to love?If you are in the area and hungry I say why not try something out of your usual comfort zone?

My wife booked a room #7 for our anniversary. We arrived in town and went to the inn and asked if we could park in the lot we were told no not until 1Pm as the policy has changed. Now the guest leaving gets to park until 1pm. The inn keeper said it was in the confirmation email upon checking it was in there. We got into the room and was unpacking when I dropped some water on the floor, I cleaned it up and the tissue I used was black very bad. I went to the inn keeper and showed her how bad it was, she sent a cleaning crew up and they used a swiffer jet to clean the floor it didn’t help much. There was a window unit A/C and would not cool down the bathroom area, was told by the cleaning crew the there was a fan in the closet to push the air to the bathroom, the bathroom stayed warm. The room came with a private balcony which I found old screws sitting on one of the pillars, there was stepping stones on the balcony by the outdoor furniture I don’t know why! There were missing spindles part of the porch railing which was very low. There was a lot of rotted wood. The description of the room on the website stated that there was a writing desk. It was not in the room. We paid $897.76 for 2 nights, would have expected more than what we got. We have been to the Casablanca inn several times and by far this was the worse.
