This is one of the smaller surf shops in the area but after visiting nearly every other shop from Oceanside to Encinitas, I inevitably end up back here. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and super helpful. And while there aren't 50 brands of leashes, fins, etc. to choose from, they don't need it because they always carry the best so I always check here first. I've come to regret too many of my purchases from larger shops so this is my goto now for anything surf related.

I popped into this store by chance to look at flip-flops and the helpful guy behind the counter started up a conversation with me about the weather and where I had driven from and what the surf was like along the coast. He could have been cast from a surf movie and was stereotypical of a surfer dude (meant only in a positive manner). I asked about rentals of boogie boards and he said no problem...$5 bucks and hour. The beach and the surf was great at Carlsbad, just a couple of blocks down the street from this little store. I brought my friends back the next day and we rented boogie boards and had a great time. Again everybody in the shop was super nice and seemed more interested in us having a good time than selling us anything, which made us look at clothes and consider what else we should do to enjoy our experience. I took the business card because this is exactly the sort of place that we need to keep in business and so that others enjoy this experience too. It's a small shop, but I'd go out of my way to go to Carlsbad and the beach, and this would be the place for rentals etc.

Forget about the corporate surf and skate stores (ahem....Sun Diego across the street), and just go right to Witt's - a Carlsbad landmark!! The staff, from Witt on down, is just ready to help. From skateboards, suits and rentals, they have what you need!

The staff was very helpful and knew what they were talking about. They seemed to really care about my family and getting them into wetsuits that fit (with some growing room). They also helped us out with properly fitting them into the right surfboards. My kids are past the beginning stages of surfing and are progressing. They really put things into perspective for my kids about the size of board they should be riding vs. the size they thought they should be riding. It was a huge benifit to their surfing. Since then we have gone back and got them skateboards. Again, the staff was friendly and knew how to get the best bang for our buck with all the skateboard accessories. We love to support the local shops, esp. Carlsbad Pipelines.
