tripadvisorEverything was great with our stay here. What really stood out was Rufino. Rufino was here when we came a couple years ago. His customer service and warm smile are a beacon for weary travelers. We will book a third time in the hopes our little buddy is still around. Worldmark management, I hope you realize what a gem you have in this young man. I’ll be honest, if this hotel was in Washington State, we would steal him from you! Till we see you again Rufino! Most Sincerely,Laura & Dr. Heather StewartSteven’s Animal Sanctuary
MoreHere is my experience reserving a room. In the reviews I noticed that someone had a poor experience as they were informed that the room they reserved was not available. They were not informed till check in.Here is what happened to me: After I reserved a room directly with the inn ( which is express holidays) I received confirmation which I printed out. In it is states that at times a room may need to be changed to accommodate other guests though they try to avoid this. Had I not read the entire notice I would have missed this and that information is not available when the reservation is made.Inn on the Park is a timeshare; clearly they rent out rooms to have full occupancy but if someone with a share wants their room I think renters are bumped. No way to run a business. It took me at least half an hour to cancel the reservation and still have not received written confirmation. It is quite the run a round to accomplish this now.Unbeleivable but people should be aware of how this is run.
MoreWe are a family of four with two boys under 9 years old. Back in March, we booked a 2-bedroom family suite at this hotel and planned our entire San Diego vacation around its location, specifically because many of our activities were within walking distance. After flying across the country from the Northeast and landing at 5:00 p.m., we discovered a voicemail from management informing us that our reservation had been transferred to another hotel due to an alleged air-conditioning malfunction in our room. The timing alone was frustrating—after months of planning, we weren’t notified until we were already arriving. When we called the hotel, the manager was dismissive and repeatedly directed us to a third-party relocation service rather than attempting to help. We explained that we had specifically chosen this property because of its location and asked whether any alternative accommodations were available on-site. We were told the hotel was “overbooked” and that there was nothing they could do.The third-party service then relocated us to a hotel roughly 20 minutes away that was supposedly offering “comparable accommodations.” It was anything but comparable. Instead of the 2-bedroom family suite we reserved months in advance, we were assigned a studio with two queen beds. The room was significantly smaller, had stained carpeting, smelled strongly of mildew, and came with an additional $48-per-day resort fee that we had never planned for. After another call and a 90-minute hold, during which the relocation service had to argue with the replacement hotel, we were finally moved to a larger room with 2 queen beds. At least this room had a couch and a small kitchenette. While marginally better, it still fell FAR short of the accommodations we originally reserved and paid for. What is most disappointing is not that a maintenance issue may have occurred—those things happen. It is how the situation was handled. Management showed no ownership of the problem, no concern for the impact on our family, and no interest in finding a reasonable solution. Instead, they simply handed us off to a third party and washed their hands of the situation. If you’re traveling with children and planning a vacation months in advance, be aware that your reservation may not be treated as a commitment. We specifically booked a 2-bedroom suite near our planned activities and ended up in a smaller room at a different hotel, farther away, with additional fees and hours wasted on the phone trying to secure something remotely comparable.Based on our experience, I would strongly encourage families to consider other lodging options in the area and to avoid the Inn at the Park. This was an incredibly disappointing way to begin a vacation that had been planned for months.
MoreComfortable place to stay with great staff and proximity to many attractions. Even though there’s no pool, I took advantage of the rooftop lounge area for soaking up some sun. We enjoyed walks through Balboa Park and to a couple of nearby restaurants and coffee shop. Parking can be challenging if you want to avoid the valet parking situation. There’s a complimentary coffee bar on the ground floor and some basic drinks/snacks available for purchase, as well as a 7-11 across the street for more essentials. Short drive to the airport and easy to drive to the beaches, parks.
MoreLocation was great, and the room was very good. Just wish it had two bathrooms. Love the experience overall.
