The Cygnet Theatre has been around for years but they just moved into their new space in San Diego and both their new theater (the address which they show on this site is incorrect) and the debut show we saw there last night, were fantastic. The new theater is located at 2880 Roosevelt Road. Parking across the street is free and plentiful. The programming for the season, the first in this beautiful new location, is stellar. We enjoyed a cast of 27 high quality performers as they performed Sondheim and Goodman's FOLLIES for a sold out crowd. The theater itself is very accessible, with elevators and broad hallways, bright lighting in the lobby areas, spotless restrooms what are elegant looking. Wonderful artworks on the walls of the lobby. Inside the theatre the air conditioning was comfortable, and the feeling was intimate and small enough so that every seat in the house looked like a really good seat. And the microphones and audio were spot on perfect. It was a wonderful show in an equally wonderful venue.Inside the theatre seating is very comfortable and sight lines are all excellent. Usher staff were solicitous and helpful. The show started on time and concluded on time. The cast and performers were top notch, the music was excellent and the vocal chops of the performers were a wow! And I dare not forget the fantastic staging and choreography and the detailed notes in the digital and paper programs. It took us almost five hours to drive to San Diego to see this show. (Yes we opted to arrive the night before and stay at a hotel for a couple of nights to make a mini vacation of it) and we will do so again. We hail from Los Angeles (the north westernmost part of it) and we have a lot of theaters in Los Angeles. But with the possible exception of the Broad Performing Arts Center, the Cygnet Theatre is at the top of the list.

I've been watching shows here for the past two decades...always a great time! I much prefer smaller and intimate theaters like this where I am actually see the actors' faces. This is impossible at the Civic Theater or Symphony Hall or Petco Park concerts where you can barely see the faces if at all, unless you're willing to spend $300+ on a ticket, if not $1000+.I recently saw Rocky Horror Picture Show, a great production! Fantastic cast , sets, and talent. I have also seen Sweeny Todd, Three Penny Opera, and Caberet, and other shows here, all have been fantastic. Highly recommend!

It’s been a long time since I’ve gone. But have never had a good experience here. It felt dirty, and the owner is rude.

Wonderful little Theatre!! We saw a fantastic play here and were blown away by how excellent the show, actors and facility were. Such a delightful intimate facility. Every seat is truly excellent. We purchased front row seats and even though it might have been slightly better viewing a little higher up, it was a rare opportunity to be nose level with the stage and so close to the performers you could see their nostrils flare. Highly recommend seeing a show here. The Staff were welcoming and really wonderful. Great fun!!!

This production is fun! Not a predictable Jane Austen at all—inventive and irreverent. Highly recommend.
