I rode my bike and hiked on the trails in Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve in Naperville in August. The trails are wonderful running through prairieland vegetation. No shade is to be expected most of the way. The place was chirping with variety of grassland birds and lots of rabbits were on the trails. A model craft field is also available at the Plainfield Road parking lot. The prairie was abloom with a variety of colorful flowers. The main attraction is an approximately 5.5 mile loop trail (Springbrook Prairie Trail). There is also a one mile trail (Sunflower Trail) which serves as access path from Modaff Road. These two trails are very smoothly paved with crushed stone and biking is permitted on these two trails. There is also a 2-mile long nature trail (Henslow’s Trail) dedicated for hiking only. Lots of black berries were in fruition on this trail. Trail markings are excellent throughout and quite informative placards posted every so often. Rest benches are located about every half mile. The only small negative thing about the loop trail is that a major road (Book Road) cut through the 5 mile loop, which means one has to cross the road twice in order to complete a loop. But, a tunnel under Plainfield Road conveniently connects the two trails on either side of the road. Springbrook Preserve is a gem of a place excellent for hiking, running, or biking. Best on a cloudy day to avoid the sun, though.

I walk there occasionally. I see a lot of people walking and biking on the paths. It has flat areas and some hills so it makes for a good workout.

The main attraction is a 5.6 mile crushed limestone loop and a 1.2 mile access path from Modaff Road. Great for biking or hiking. Your see los of birds and some other wildlife. There is a picnic area with bath rooms and a god park at the SW end of the loop. Also a rather impressiv emodel airplane flying area at the P-N Road end. Thisis a Du Page County Forest preserve facility.

Large, quiet walking, jogging, cycling path for your enjoyment. You can walk part of it or both sides of the preserve. Adequate parking, prairie plants for your viewing. Not always a flat surface.

It is a almost flat area for Jogging, Walking, or Biking. There are two major loops for that. One is about 5 mile, and the other 2.2 miles of packed coarse sand paths. Recently they upgraded the trail markings thourghout. Has a remote controlled model plane air field. The only small negative thing about this place is that a road cut through the 5 mile loop, which means you have to cross the road twice in order to complete a loop. Plenty of parking spaces (2 lots).
