Along with a wealth of educational materials in its interpretive stations that display some of the history and development of the "Mat-Su" Valley (Matanuska, Susitna), this information center also has a gift shop. Within this log cabin structure you may purchase Alaskana books, traditional Native artwork and jewelry. In addition you will find recommendations for campsites, hotels and the many attractions along the way to Denali Park or beyond to Fairbanks. Local information is available, too. A series of summer and winter events are held in this area.

tripadvisorThis location needs to be removed from Trip Advisor since it has closed pending construction of a new site. Its signs need to come down too since I am sure many visitors exit the Parks Highway to find a closed building. I am a Palmer resident and I'm posting this for the convenience of travelers and visitors. There is a visitors Center in Palmer that will prove helpful for travelers on the Glenn Highway. The Wasilla Museum (open Tuesday-Friday) might prove helpful for Parks Highway travelers. Sadly the Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry (about a mile off the Parks at Mile 47) has closed for the season.
MoreA nice place to stop and take a break from traveling. Plenty of information to help guide you for the day. Breathtaking views!
MoreThe visitors center has a beautiful view of Pioneer Peak .provides lots of information for the area and it's attractions. Has a nice Veterans Memorial on its lawn. Plans are to move it across the highway to a new facility in the next couple years.
MoreNice pull out areas for beautiful scenery on the drive up. The visitor center is small but well stocked with information on the area and has a nice museum. Staff were helpful.
MoreAs you drive through the MatSu Valley you see waterfalls, moose, glaciers, beautiful foliage. It is breath taking.
