Excellent bicycling trail! The breathtaking views are just excellent for photos, the trails are very well maintained, and there are lots of places to stop and rest, benches along the trail! Starting at the Duchess Trail, we biked all the way across the Hudson river bridge! Many places to stop for picnic and restroom. breaks! We consider this bicycling trail as one of the best! We love to bike this trails! Thanks

Definitely a fun place to bike. Trail is paved and has ample clearance on both sides. The highlight is connecting to and crossing the Hudson River on the Walkway Over the Hudson (a must hike or bike when in the area).

Relaxing way to Bicycle in a highly congested area. Many benches And Porta potties along the way. Also some historical railroad memorabilia. Signage to Explain history along the way. Fantastic views north and south on the Hudson river.Road bikes were used and asphalt pretty clear of debris.

We biked on the raised-bed, asphalt trail that we began on the eastern side of the Walkway Over The Hudson & then turned around at the intersection of Route 299 and Putts Road in New Paltz (and then rode returned to Poughkeepsie; 10 miles each way). Trail goes through a couple of overpasses, passes by a sweet little rest stop-of-a-garden, an old caboose, X-shaped crossing signs warn you of driveway crossings, signage telling of the history of the former railroad that ran on this path as well as the info on the creation of the rail trail. There is not much of charm to this trail but it is safe, very well maintained & good for walkers, runners, & biking.

Walk it, you'll love it, beautiful views up and down, wait for a train to come on the Haviland side and watch it go through the zigzag tracks on the north side :) This is the trail to stay on back and forth !
