Had a great Monday afternoon sailing with Derrek. Winds were light but we had enough to keep the sails full. Highly recommend to everyone, novice to expert. The 36 ft Hunter is a beautiful boat. very comfortable .

I know it’s not their fault if there isn’t any wind, but I guess I naively thought they would run the motor and actually give us a boat ride around Lake Pepin. Nope. We sat in the middle of the lake, no wind, blazing hot. It wasn’t fun. Or worth the money. To literally sit on a boat that didn’t move. Yet, we tipped. They should have canceled, knowing there wasn’t any wind.

What a fantastic experience! I’d never been on a sailboat before, and Captain Derrek made it unforgettable. He was a wonderful teacher, explained everything so well, and even let me steer the boat for much of our private sail.The light drizzle kept most people away, so it felt like we had beautiful Lake Pepin all to ourselves. The wind was perfect, and just as we finished, the sun came out and a rainbow appeared. It couldn’t have ended more perfectly.Thank you for such a memorable afternoon. I highly recommend Sail Pepin!

My son and I booked a one-day sailing experience with Sail Pepin. Captain Derek Polt provided instruction to tune up our sailing skills. We focused on sail trim, crew overboard exercises, anchoring, and docking. Derek is an extremely experienced, laid-back, and friendly instructor. The sailboat was well maintained, very responsive, and comfortable. Derek was also excellent at communicating and setting up the details ahead of time. Highly recommend — we'll be back on the water soon!
