Carnegie Library at FAMU Library ·$

Donated by and named after Amdrew Carnegie, the Carnegie Library is a beautiful neoclassical building that is a part of the Florida A&M University campus. The library dates back to 1908, when it was built by architect William Augustus Edwards. Initially, it was donated to the city of Tallahassee, but eventually settled on the premises of the university campus, following the city's refusal to serve African American patrons. The library also houses the Southeastern Regional Black Archives Research Center and Museum that contains exhibits related to African American history in the state of Florida.
