tripadvisorUnh..no thanksSorry/Not Sorry this is a rather negative review I stayed at the Hoxton on a business trip for 3 nights.•this may be a “luxury hotel”, but may not be for everyone.. the lobby/lounge was full of people camped out working on their computers most of the day and there’s nowhere else to sit •the Electronic Dance Music in the lobby/lounge was very loud and made speaking on the phone or even across a table difficult.. I had to go outside to hear my call.•the room was tiny.•thin walls.. you can hear doors several rooms away slamming shut at all hours.•noise from the street made sleeping difficult without earplugs.•2 days the toilet wouldn’t flush ..disgusting.•no luggage rack.. the room is too small.• there was no written “guest information”.•shower wouldn’t turn off- I had to inform the front desk every morning •last morning- no hot water.. until I turned the shower off and the handheld poured scalding hot water that was way too hot to handle…no way to understand how to operate the shower knobs.. the lower knob (maybe the diverter) spun in circles..I was afraid if I turned it too far in either direction it would fall off and gush water sideways, like a 3 Stooges skit.• the cute Princess phone was “plugged”into a hole in the wall with no actual connection ... there was no direct contact with the hotel, you have to use your cell phone.•the flip-top desk and only chair ..not enough room for 2 chairs.. were very scratched where the flip-down desktop had been banged the chair often(looked like thrift store furniture) inside the desk were two coffee cups and two 6oz glasses along with instant coffee, tea and an electric kettle.. the kettle was clean, however there was no outlet close enough to plug it in, other than the bathroom or next to the bed (just..wow).•the floor under the bed hadn’t been cleaned in a long while.• there was supposed to be water in the room, but there was only an empty carafe in the refrigerator that was difficult to fill from the bathroom sink , uh, no thanks.. the 8oz. carton of milk had a ‘use by date’ of December 2026.the only “water station” was hidden next to the entrance elevator in the lobby.•the view of Manhattan was mesmerizing from the odd numbered rooms on the upper floors; the view from the even numbered rooms was of a rusting partially demolished building.•Wythe St. is narrow, so arriving in a cab/Uberblocks traffic.•the staff were courteous, but seemed disengaged.•the one giant blueberry pancake was good but way too big to finish,(I detest wasting food) the coffee drinks were done well.. but the barista seemed harried as did the lone waiter.•even the cardboard “do not disturb “door hangers were wheezed and beat up.•I have over two dozen bed bug bites.. •After leaving, I developed numerous bites consistent with bed-bug exposure. I took corrective measures immediately upon getting home, but symptoms continued to develop despite hydrocortisone and anti-inflammatory medication. I’m not continuing communication with the hotel; I’m posting this as an accurate account of my experience. One Star for the view of Midtown Manhattan as I said .. Sorry/ Not Sorry I won’t stay at The Hoxton again. You should find somewhere else to stay even if you think this couldn’t happen to you. This is a truthful review.Value ⭐️Rooms ⭐️Location ⭐️⭐️⭐️Cleanliness ⭐️Service ⭐️Sleep Quality ⭐️Date of stay:October 2026
MoreI can't imagine I'm alone in this. The Hoxton is a lovely environment and in my opinion has some of the best food in the neighborhood. I regularly stay in Williamsburg for business in NY whether in the triangle of hotels or in an apartment. Regardless I always go in for food. However the attitude of pretty much every person who works in hospitality - whether it's the coffee bar / the main bar or the lobby restaurant is very very off-putting. There's a sense of them doing you a favor the whole time. I've been told I can't eat in the restaurant - and felt persecuted as a lone traveller, put at the bar. They have a no laptop policy in there also. however that appears to be selective. When the coffee bar is rammed practically all day and I want to take a meeting in the courtyard area of the restaurant they look down on it. In the past, often whilst others have been sitting in there on their laptops. It's clean, comfortable, practical and well located - I enjoy it, but the staff are quite frankly unfriendly and its really put me off. All that said I will continue staying there because its convenient for me but if anybody reads this I hope it's noted and taken as constructive criticism.

MoreOur Cosy room was exactly that. No issues but the shower leaked badly all over the floor. The towels are also tiny. Smart tv was probably smart a decade ago. For the cost, it falls short. Then we get to its “vibe”. If you are under 30, then the staff aren’t interested in you. The lobby is full of random people working at their computers and looking important. So much so that there is no space for guests to relax. It’s ambience is cool as in cold, not cool as in stylish. It could and should do a lot better.
MoreI have to say i had a great stay until the end, i was charged for a service i did not receive a bill had been add yo my room without mu knowledge and was told they would have yo check cctv to see if it was me. I left my bags for the day i came back at midnight to leave and still had not resolved the issue, i was told it was out there hands as it was to do with the adjoining restaurant. As i was now leaving the country i had emailed them to ask for an update as my deposit was not refunded and i had been charged for this matter. I have emailed since then over 8 times with only 1 reply to say they were not aware of the matter. It has now been over a month and to this day had not had any follow up. Its a shame you have now tarnished my stay and the customer service has been a shambles. This is fraud and you need to do better. Ad I’ve asked for evidence in every email and nothing has been provided.
