tripadvisorVery cute village setting but not much was open when we were there around noon on Saturday. But parking was very close and easy. The coffee shop was open and very cute!!
MoreI actually visited here December 2023. When I lived in Fountain Valley, CA during the 70's and 80's, Old World village was a fun place to go to get in touch with my German heritage. Most of the shops sold German merchandise and there were several restaurants and bakeries. Unfortunately times change. The day I went there, they were having some sort of Christmas Mart, but rather than nutcrackers and gingerbread men, it was more crystals and tarot cards. The mart was geared more to the Dungeons & Dragons or Middle Earth set than to the Hansel and Gretel group. Most of the German shops have been replaced by spas or metaphysical boutiques. Sad to say, you can get more of a German experience by visiting Cost Plus World market than you can here.
MoreAs Octoberfest's go this is a California version. Parking is down the block in a parking garage. We went for a special reservation with the Long Beach yacht club. While we did have reserved tables inside the music was so incredibly loud that talking was impossible. the food was stand in line ( a long line) for a rather mediocre meal. Two hours was enough and we exited.
MoreI neglected to take a photo because I hate leaving negative reviews but this place I will never return to. Burnt wienerschnitzel and subpar red cabbage is not what I'm used to paying 30 bucks for. If you want anything other than a beer it's not the kind of quality that we're accustomed to in food.
MoreWent during the week figured less crowded . Was very unimpressed almost 90% shops were closed prob arrived around 1 pm . I went to the German restaurant on site and asked about the shops they said they are all private and they can close and open basically whenever they feel like it . So yea maybe it’s better on the weekend ? Not sure
