tripadvisorGetting the one positive out of the way, the rooms and common areas are clean, well-lit and well-appointed. This was in the top 5 of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had - for nearly $500/night.The big problem which, stunningly, many reviewers fail to mention, is the hotel is literally right on top of a very, very busy interstate highway, making it impossible to get a good night’s sleep if you’re unfortunate, as I was, to be stuck in a room on that side of the hotel. I tried not once, not twice, but three times over a day and a half to switch my room to the quieter side of the hotel. The last time, the front desk person was willing to do it but his manager was not. The hotel obviously knows this is a problem because they have white noise machines and ear plugs in these rooms. Both were ineffectual. A small buffet with a couple of cook-to-order items is available for $21.The front desk staff (other than the person mentioned above) is both uncommunicative and unsympathetic. The fitness center is small and has minimal strength training options (just dumbbells and two benches).
MoreAn absolutely terrible experience. It has been over a month since my stay at the AC Hotel by Marriott Boston Downtown, and I am still dealing with two unauthorized and unjustified charges on my credit card.Despite multiple attempts to contact the property, to this day I have received neither a refund nor any explanation regarding these dynamic charges. The management and front desk staff have shown total indifference, completely ignoring my emails and brushing off my concerns over the phone without offering any assistance.Aside from this unacceptable billing issue, the hotel does not meet Marriott standards. The customer service post-stay is shameful and lacks any transparency. It is unacceptable for a well-known brand to allow this kind of behavior.I will never step foot in this hotel again. I strongly advise everyone to avoid booking here, unless you want to risk having money wrongfully taken from your account with zero support to get it back.
MoreWe had a very nice stay at AC. Good for overnight stay in the city. We'll definitely be back. Staff is very accommodating. Very clean and updated room. They only do towel exchange if you stay multiple days, so be aware. Location is near restaurants, CVS, Whole Foods and a Tatte too. We had a great room on the 6th floor in the rear away from the highway. Very quiet and relaxing. Give it a try.
MoreJust spent three nights at this hotel for a short stop over on our way to Iceland. Staff went above and beyond in communication and being so accommodating to us. The rooms are clean, spacious and updated. Rooms come with hairdryer, soap, shampoo, conditioner.Very good location, right off the freeway. You do get some road noise from the freeway, but the hotel also provides you with a lovely sound machine to help drown that out. They also have a specific area for rideshare pick up and drop off. Lobby is comfortable for while you wait for your ride.Price is a little above average, but expected for a hotel as nice as this one.
MoreThe property is clean, new, and modern. Comfortable rooms & really nice staff. I called ahead to request a room facing Whole Foods instead of the highway and they accommodated the request. We also had an excellent check in & check out with Amy.Breakfast is $21 pp and not included for platinum elites. The $25 daily destination fee included one $25 breakfast credit, two T passes, and two tickets up to the View (highly recommend). I also chose a $10 F&B credit as a platinum welcome gift and applied it to our breakfast for two. The hostess was attentive and the food was fine for an AC. Despite having “Downtown” in its name, the hotel actually sits at the edge of the South End on the Ink Block right next to the highway. You walk through Chinatown to get to Downtown Boston. Same if you’re walking the 1.5 miles to the Seaport. Fine during the day, but sketchy returning at night. No security or bellman in the lobby, but you need to swipe a room key to ride the elevator.Unfortunately, I had to file a missing stay report with Marriott Bonvoy in order to get the points and credit for my stay.
