...forgive me if I don't get it all right. I came here after my visit to that little temple right next store. I wrote a review on that place already and here now. This park is such a little hidden treasure or as Robert Perez says a diamond in the rough that I really wanna tell you a little. First let me say, Robert has made it a whole less rough. He takes care of this nice little green oasis in the middle of Kalihi. Does a whole lot more for the place than the city does who owns it. You know that Mexican restaurant on School Street by Helene's - it's right behind it. I've going to that place for years and never knew about the park. I've since read-up a little bit about it and Robert who's been like this awesome man of the land here for many years. The park is mostly a pond - I would call it - but I think I read there's two natural springs here and a canal runs by it too. There's probably a Hawaiian word for all this that I should know, but I don't. Anyway, Robert gets down and dirty keeping the pond clear and he's growing taro which is the kalo plant - different varieties as well I think. He is a college instructor, and he brings his students here too sometimes to help maintain the place - I guess doing all this in their off-time. I talked with him I guess for about 45 minutes or so. I'm awed (and probably jealous of) when I meet such capable people like him. He's also somebody who is naturally friendly in an infectious way that you just like immediately. You, know It's a really pretty scene here that Robert pretty much created. I'm surprised I didn't seen any other local people hanging out besides Robert and his folks. They usually like cruising with their families at beautiful spots like this. I should come back soon, definitely before I leave next. You should go with me and meet Robert.
