tripadvisorSpectacular view of these falls that are higher than Niagara and the tallest falls east of the Rockies. Just an incredible view. The overlook is just outside the Visitor Center, where you can find a small gift / souvenir shop (cards only), rest rooms as well. The overlook offers an incredible panoramic of the falls. Highly recommend. Visitor Center / park entrance is accessible from either Route 96 on the west side of the park or Route 89 from the east side. Either way, this place is worth the stop.
MoreDidn't go to the Visitor's Center, just visited the falls. The falls are fantastic. Wished had time to also see the falls from the bottom. But from the overlook is a good place to start. The falls are supposed to be higher than Niagara.
MoreThis is a great viewpoint to see the impressive waterfall whether you want to hike the Gorge Trail or not. It is also ideal for visitors who are somewhat physically challenged.
MoreAfter viewing all the YouTube videos on the many WaterFalls in the Finger Lake region and after seeing all the hiking and climbing stairs required to view them in-person, I was determined to find some that I could literally see from the parking lot. This was my AARP nature tour! I found this overlook to exceed my expectations. There is a small visitors center with interesting information and knowledgeable staff, well maintained grounds and a very short walk to a grand vista.Set your GPS to: Taughannock Park Visitors Center Overlook 2381 Taughannock Park Road Trumansburg NY14886Parking and entrance is free.
MoreMy favourite part of the experience at the overlook was actually the bathroom! We discovered this gem only after hiking to the waterfall.I would suggest driving to this overlook first--parking is free and there is a little gift shop--and then paying for parking at the entrance to the park and doing the hike. The day we were there, the sky was hazy from the Canadian wildfire smoke and it was drizzly, so the view from the overlook was fuzzy and not nearly as magnificent as it might have been on a clear, sunny day. There are quite a few stairs going down to the overlook.
